Kooky director Tim Burton has worked with Hollywood heart-throb Johnny Depp on a number of movies but the long collaboration history almost never happened. Tim says that when he was considering Johnny Depp for the role of Edward Scissorhands, he almost dismissed him due to his looks and teen idol status.

Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands
Burton explained to Deadline's AwardsLine, "It was quite simple. I mean, I knew about '21 Jump Street', and I had seen pictures and stuff, and I met him and he just reminded me of what the character was. At the time he was perceived as a teen idol, you know, a Justin Bieber type of guy, but as a person he wasn't that."
He added,'"So, for me, he mirrored what Edward Scissorhands was: he was something inside, but people treated him a certain way because of the way he looks. So in a weird way, he was the character, because he had those feelings."

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger
Johnny Depp can next be seen on the big screen, starring alongside Helena Bonham Carter, Armie Hammer and James Badge Dale, in the movie The Lone Ranger, which is written and directed by Gore Verbinski and is set to be released on July 3 in the US and August 9 in the UK.
