When a movie comes along that develops a huge cult following over time, it is no surprise when the fans of the film begin to call for there to be a sequel for the movie, especially when the anniversary comes around. That is exactly what has been happening for the hit 2004 film Mean Girls, which has had fans calling for a sequel for years and now that the 10 year anniversary has arrived, the rumours have been doing overtime.
Hollywood star Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for Mean Girls, as well as playing the role of Ms. Norbury in the film. Tina has now opened up about the rumours of their being a Mean Girls sequel admitting that, while the cast and crew are likely to get together for an anniversary catch up, there are no plans for them to make a sequel.
Fey explained, "At most, it would be like a panel discussion with a plate of hot wings. It's definitely not a movie." She the went on to admit that, while she wishes she had have written a sequel, it has never actually happened. "No! I wish I had written a movie. No, it's just [...] Mostly we're trying to get a party going."
As well as starring Tina Fey, the Mean Girls cast also included Rachel McAdams, Tim Meadows, Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, Lacey Chabert, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Franzese, Neil Flynn, Jonathan Bennett and Amanda Seyfried, oh and Lindsay Lohan of course. It is a shame that we will not get to see a Mean Girls sequel, apart from the awful Mean Girls 2 which doesn't really count.
