“Whose that guy?” were the words on many commentators lips when the first pair of Nike Mag were purchased at an invitation only event this week, and it has been revealed, rather hastily, that it was Tinie Tempah.
UK Rap star, Tinie Tempah, was the first person to win a pair of the ever so limited edition pair of Nike Mags, which are based on the futuristic trainers from Back to the Future II from the 80s.
Nike plan to release just 1,500 pairs of the Nike Mag sneaker through auction website eBay, with all proceeds going to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease research.
The whole event has proved to be a successful brand extension exercise for Nike while creating awareness for Parkinson disease research. The event was believed to be inspired by a Michael Jordan charity auction which was done with Sole Collector which raised $23,000 for Michael Jordan’s charity, Wings for the Future.
