When it was announced that a new Mad Max movie was being made but, rather than going with an ageing Max in Mel Gibson, they had decided to recast the role, we were very unsure how it would work out. Fortunately though, George Miller and all involved had the sense to cast the extremely talented British actor Tom Hardy, who we have total faith in.
With Mad Max: Fury Road finally beginning to hit theatres around the world, we are finally beginning to get a good idea of whether the movie will prove a success or not, and things are looking good early on. George Miller has opened up about the future of the franchise, admitting that there is plenty of material there to do some Mad Max sequels.
While speaking at the premiere for the movie, Miller explained, "We've got other stories and other scripts, but it really depends on how this goes and whether everyone - particularly me - has an appetite to go back into the wasteland. Going back to the baby analogy, it's like asking a woman who's just given birth, 'You wanna try it again?' 'No!'"
Mad Max: Fury Road has already been earning some pretty impressive reviews from the critics and we are sure that the fans of the franchise will be impressed too. We have no doubt that the movie will prove a box office success, which will pretty much guarantee the sequels that George Miller has suggested.
Mad Max: Fury Road hits theatres around the world this week. We cannot wait to give you our own views on the movie.
