We have been bringing you our Top 10 list of movie roles that were eventually recast and we are now into the top five. The most recent recast we brought you was Dean O'Gorman replacing Rob Kazinsky in The Hobbit trilogy and now we have number five on the list.

Al Pacino was initially cast in the role
As most of you probably know by now, Al Pacino was originally cast to voice the role of the villain in the movie Despicable Me 2. The casting would act as Al Pacino's first ever role on an animated movie and he came in and gave the role his all, before things took a different turn.
Just a few weeks before Despicable Me 2 was set to get its release, it was revealed that Al Pacino would no longer be involved in the movie, due to creative differences. Instead, Benjamin Bratt was brought in to re-voice the character, something which he did not find easy.

Benjamin Bratt took over the role
Bratt explained, "Our initial approach was to replicate what Al Pacino did, but of course, we found that to be impossible. It was a waste of two days trying to mimic essentially what he had done because no one can out-Al Pacino Al Pacino, and no one should dare try. So I simply used what he did as an inspiration and as a guide for what I needed to do."
Despicable Me 2 is out now in both the US and the UK.
