Our latest top 10 list brings you the top 10 recast movie roles and, while we are still early in the list, we have already brought you how Eric Stoltz was replaced by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. Today we bring you number nine, taking a look at the role of Wolverine in X-Men.
Following Hugh Jackman's performances as Wolverine in the X-Men movies, the Australian actor has gone on to become a global superstar. Hugh has played Wolverine on five occasions already and also has another two movies with Wolverine in, coming out.
The success of the X-Men movies have led to Hugh Jackman being cast in some big budget blockbuster movies but things could have been so different. Before Hugh was cast as Wolverine in the first X-Men film, the role was offered to Dougray Scott, who seemed very keen on playing the role.
Unfortunately for Dougray, filming on his movie Mission: Impossible 2 over ran by a couple of weeks, so he had to reject the Wolverine role. That was clearly good news for Hugh Jackman, who has been a Hollywood A-Lister ever since.
Hugh Jackman next appears as Wolverine in the movie The Wolverine, which opens on July 26.
