There have been a lot of channels both on TV and online, that have made the decision to start making their own original series, rather than continuing to play shows created by others. One such channel, which has found success with a couple of their own original television series over the past few years, is the History Channel.
As well as enjoying success with their original series The Bible, the History Channel has also given us the original series Vikings. The first season of Vikings aired last year and proved to be a bit of a hit for the History Channel, so it was no surprise when it was confirmed that the show had been renewed for a second season, which aired its premiere this week.
Vikings actor Travis Fimmel, who plays the role of Ragnar in the series, has teased fans of what they can expect in Vikings season two. At the end of season one, we saw Ragnar having difficulties in his relationship with his wife Laretha (Katheryn Winnick), seeking comfort in the arms of Princess Aslaug. Season two sees Princess Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) turn up in town pregnant, causing even more difficulties between Ragnar and Lagertha.
While talking about the issues that Ragnar now faces, Travis Fimmel insists that his character just wants everything to be perfect, "He wants it to be like the Brady Bunch, Ragnar does. People are putting 21st century values on it, but that stuff happened back then. He had to give it a shot anyway, you know?" he explained.
Vikings season two premiered on the History Channel on Thursday, February 27 at 10pm and the show will continue to air at the same time and same place every week.
