It has been reported recently that the third instalment of the TRON franchise could be set to hit the big screen as early as 2013. However, that release date seems highly unlike for a number of reasons, despite the fact that a number of reliable publications are claiming otherwise.
Yet these claims are simply based on a comment from TRON actor Bruce Boxleitner, who simply stated that they would not be likely to start production on the film until next year. With the script not even underway yet, a process which could take several months depending on rewrites, 2013 does not seem possible.

At the rate TRON 3 is going at the moment, the script is not likely to be complete until next year. Then there is pre production, which includes finding the right cast and crew to bring the film together among a lot of other things. So this will take several more months.
As Bruce has suggested, production on TRON 3 could begin towards the end of next year, providing that the intended cast are available to film then. The filming process will take a few more months and will be unlikely to be complete until early 2013, which does not seem to leave enough time for post production.

A movie like TRON 3 will take up quite a lot of time in post production due to the way the movie is filmed. There is a possibility that they could get post production done and the movie out in time for Christmas 2013 but that we need everything to run smoothly, which never happens in the movie business.
In our opinion it is more likely that TRON 3 will hit the big screen in 2014 and possibly in time for July 4th weekend. However nothing has been confirmed and we are all just guessing at the moment. One thing is for certain. TRON 3 is definitely going to be made.
