Tyler Perry is probably better known for directing movies than he is for starring in them but there is no denying he is a talented actor, as well as director. Tyler is next set to appear on the big screen in the movie Alex Cross, a role made famous by Morgan Freeman in the movies Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. So how did Tyler feel about taking on such a role?

Perry told Collider, “I did watch both films. When they first came out, I remember seeing them both. But, that’s Morgan frickin’ Freeman. You don’t try to do anything that Morgan Freeman does. He was the voice of God in a movie. That’s Morgan Freeman!"
He added, “I knew, going in, that I could not try to be Morgan Freeman, playing Alex Cross. I had to be the best Tyler Perry that I could, playing Alex Cross. So, in that sense, I tried to forget everything I saw and just go in and be the best that I could with it.”

As well as starring Tyler Perry, Alex Cross also stars Matthew Fox, Rachel Nichols and Jean Reno and is set to be released in the US on October 19 before then being released in the UK on November 30.
