There have been plenty of rumours over the years about Jamaican sprint king Usain Bolt turning his hand to a different sport and proving himself as a quality soccer star, as well as the world's best sprinter. Usain was linked to a trial with Manchester United, which never actually happened, while he is now tipped to make an appearance for the Jamaican national team.
It is pretty much guaranteed that Usain Bolt will compete in both the 100m and 200m at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and, while many people have called for him to have a go at the 400m on the world stage, it looks like Usain could change sports all together. Jamaican national coach Winfried Schafer has heard about Bolt's football ambitions and has admitted that he would be open to giving him a run out for Jamaica.
Schafer explained, "In the German newspapers I read about Usain Bolt saying he wants to play football and he wants to play in Manchester (United in England). He's a Jamaican and I want him to be on the national team. This is our goal. Maybe after the Olympics in Brazil (2016), I want to see him in our team. That is what I want to tell him. I hope he wants to play for his country."
It seems that all the talk of Usain Bolt swapping his running spikes for football boots has split fans, as some of them have admitted that they would love to see Usain Bolt on a football pitch, while others think that it would be a complete failure and make a mockery of, not only his legacy but football itself. What do you think?
