There have been a lot of love triangles on television and in movies for as long as we can remember and those love triangles have been getting more versatile. In recent years, the popularity in Vampires has gone through the roof, with the Twilight movies and television shows such as True Blood and The Vampire Diaries.
The Vampire Diaries love triangle
These have all taken the classic love triangle concept and adapted it for their Vampire series. All three of them started off with a Vampire and a human falling in love and in all three cases, the Vampire was the male of the piece and the human was a pretty young female.
Take The Vampire Diaries for instance. The CW television series started with the human girl Elena (Nina Dobrev) falling for the Vampire Stefan (Paul Wesley). However, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), another Vampire, eventually came on the scene and won the affections of Elena.
Three's a crowd
This tends to be a typical Vampire love triangle, with two boys fighting over the pretty girl. In The Vampire Diaries case, Elena eventually becomes a Vampire herself, turning this love triangle into 100% Vampire love.
