Actor Viggo Mortensen has never been shy or afraid to send a message either subtlely or overtly and he did so with his actions at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. During the show he was presenting an award to legendary film director David Cronenberg, the Lifetime Achievement Award and to punctuate his feelings for the great director he kissed him on the lips. If ever there was a moment that demonstrated his ability to shock the crowd this was it.
Viggo Mortensen is known as the muse of David Cronenberg and he has great affection for the legendary director for whom he has starred in three of his movies, "A History of Violence", "Eastern Promises" and "A Dangerous Method". Viggo Mortensen and his director have something in common in that neither could be considered a mainstream individual, in particular the actor who refuses to be stereotyped in one role and has played a feature role in over thirty movies.
There are some actors who play their characters so well that they make the audience uncomfortable because the viewer becomes so engrossed in the role the actor is playing even if it challenges all of society's norms. Viggo Mortensen is an actor of this exceptional quality and this has been evident throughout his career in roles such as "G.I. Jane and "A Dangerous Method".
He currently has one project, "The Two Faces of January" that is scheduled for a May 2014 release but will be seen at the San Francisco International Film Festival where it will open the festival and he has two other projects, "The Untitled Lisandro Alonso Project" and "Far From Men" that are in post-production. Fans of Viggo Mortensen can look forward to seeing him continue to surprise and shock audiences with his sterling performances similar to those he has provided his entire career including as a presenter at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards.
