Wally Pfister is probably best known for being the longtime cinematographer for Dark Knight trilogy director Christopher Nolan. Now, Wally is preparing to take on his directorial debut with the movie Transcendence, which will star Johnny Depp, and Wally has been talking about landing the actor.
Pfister was chatting to Collider when he told them, “Johnny’s [Depp] an incredible talent and he just responded to the material. He really loved the script and he really brought a new life to it. I think he’ll be amazing in that part, too. I’m really excited.”
While Johnny Depp was cast in one of the lead roles in Transcendence, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire, Christian Bale and Jude Law were also considered for a role in the movie, as were Ewan McGregor and Tom Hardy. Meanwhile, Noomi Rapace was considered for the female lead in Transcendence, while Kate Winslet turned the role down.
Transcendence will be directed by Wally Pfister, based on a script that was penned by Jack Paglen. Johnny Depp will join up with his Transcendence co-stars, when the movie begins production on March 4, with the aim of releasing the film sometime in 2014.
