Wayne Gretzky might take another executive job in the NHL someday. He just doesn't have any plans to do so right now. He's just happy being a hockey fan at the moment. He said earlier this year he is flattered when his name is mentioned in connection with a job in the NHL and added he considers such talk "an honor." He added he just doesn't want to be in the "pressure cooker" at the moment. Earlier this year he hosted the 11th annual Wayne Gretzky Fantasy Camp. He has not been in the NHL since he resigned as head coach of the Phoenix Coyotes September 24, 2009. He was coach for three seasons.

Wayne Gretzky gives a wave
It isn't that he hasn't had offers or his name hasn't come up for various jobs. There was talk earlier this year about his becoming President of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He said he has periodically talked with Dean Lombardi, General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings about having some capacity with the team. Although he has never accepted a job with the team, he was glad when it won the Stanley Cup. He added he doesn't know "what I want to do" in the NHL.
Wayne Gretzky, nicknamed the "Great One," and called the greatest hockey player ever, played for four NHL teams during a 20 year career. He retired as the leading scorer in NHL history, with 2,857 regular season points and 382 points, the only player ever to score 200 points in a season and a player who had more assists than any other player had points.

Wayne Gretzky off the ice
Who knows when or if Wayne Gretzky will return to the NHL? A lot of people are waiting for that to happen, however.
