Wayne Rooney to leave Manchester United for Anzhi Makhachkala

It has been reported that mega rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala have got their sights set on signing England and Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney. Anzhi are backed by billionaire Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov and plan on making Wayne Rooney the highest paid player in the world.

Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos, who is the clubs Director of Football, said, “He’s one of the best players in the world and any team would be happy to have him in their squad. He’s still a very young player. Of course I could not say when, and if, it will happen. It’s not only Anzhi who can want to buy him. There are plenty of teams in Italy and Spain, all over the world, who are eager to have a player like Rooney.”

He added, “If the owner of Anzhi has a wish to buy somebody, he will go and do it. But we are trying to change the image of the club. It’s not just about money. Of course we are going to buy good players but not only international players. We want to sign good Russian players that are not that expensive.”

Anzhi Makhachkala could certainly do with a player of Wayne Rooney’s talents, as they struggled in their Europa League match with Liverpool last night. Anzhi showed very little creative flair and had no real chance to speak of, during their 1-0 defeat. However, Manchester United will be keen to keep hold of their prized asset, as they look to regain the Premier League title.
