When it was announced that British actor Daniel Craig would take on the role of James Bond, taking over from Pierce Brosnan, there were a lot of people who were quite sceptical of the casting. However, Daniel has now appeared in three James Bond movies, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, winning over many of his critics along the way.
It is expected that Daniel Craig will continue as 007 for the next two James Bond movies, which will likely take him to around 2018 or there abouts. Daniel will be around 50 years old then, which has led many to speculate that he will then walk away from the James Bond franchise, leaving the door open for a new actor to come in and take over the major role.
There have already been a ot of names linked to the possibility of playing James Bond in the future, with a lot of people suggesting that the time is right for us to finally see a black James Bond. Luther actor Idris Elba has been touted for the role on many occasions, even admitting that he would be interested if he was asked. Meanwhile, Arrow actor Colin Salmon has also been mentioned as a possible James Bond of the future.
Meanwhile, Homeland star Damian Lewis has said that he would love to play James Bond, should the opportunity arise, while some have sugested that it could be time for a younger James Bond, with X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Nicholas Hoult among one of the favourites, should they decide to take that route.
If Daniel Craig does decide to quit as James Bond after the next two movies, we could have to wait at least another four years before we receive any word of a new James Bond. Who would you like to see replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond?
