The DC Extended Universe has come in for a lot of criticism for its recent movies, with there being a number of things that the comic book movie fans have not been impressed with. One of the biggest disappointments for the fans of the DCEU was the way they treated the fan favourite villain The Joker in the movie Suicide Squad.
Hollywood superstar Jared Leto was cast in the role of The Joker for the Suicide Squad movie and he really did throw himself 100% into the role, which many of us thought would turn out to be great. However, not only was the character written and designed so poorly, but the performance from Jared Leto was also quite disappointing too.
With that in mind, it has been widely suggested that the Jared Leto Joker is going to be removed from the DC Extended Universe and that they are going to replace the actor with a new Joker. There have been many names linked to replacing Jared Leto as The Joker but it looks like the favourite for the role has to be Leonardo DiCaprio.
It has been suggested that Warner Bros. and DC are trying to get Martin Scorsese to come on board to direct a Joker movie and that Leonardo DiCaprio will take on the role of the Clown Prince of Gotham. While this sounds like a great idea, we cannot see either the director or the actor wanting to get involved in the mess that has become the DCEU.
What does actually seem more likely now, is that Warner Bros. and DC are actually going to bring us a Joker and Harley Quinn movie, which would see the return of Jared Leto as the Joker, while Margot Robbie will return as Harley Quinn. We shall see!
