As soon as it was announced that DC and Warner Bros. would introduce Wonder Woman in the Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, it did not take long for the internet to become full of talk of who should play the role. There were a lot of names mentioned, with a certain few actresses being at the top of most of the lists for who should play Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
One of the names that was regularly at the top of the lists and fast became a fans favourite for the role, was fighter turned actress Gina Carano, who fans had been calling to play Wonder Woman for many years. Eventually though, it was announced that Fast and Furious actress Gal Gadot had been cast as Wonder Woman in the Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, so why was Gina Carano overlooked?
Well Gina Carano has spoken about the role on a number of occasions, admitting that she was never contacted about playing Wonder Woman and was unsure whether she was even considered. While Gina has admitted that she was grateful for the fans support, she has also stated that she will back Gina Carano to become a great Wonder Woman.
Meanwhile, there have been some people suggesting that Gina Carano was seen as being "too chunky" for the role, as DC and Warner Bros. wanted a more petite actress to play the role. While we could see how this would make sense, with Gina being very curvy and muscular, we don't believe that this is really the case. With that said though, we cannot give you a definitive answer as to why Gina Carano was overlooked. What do you think?
Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will open on April 29, 2016 in the UK and May 6, 2016 in the US.
