The X-Men movie franchise has returned to form in recent years, with the success of the 2011 movie X-Men: First Class, while we await the release of the latest film X-Men: Days of Future Past, which looks set to be another hit. There has also been a lot of talk about some potential X-Men spin-off movies, while we already know that we will also get the movie X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016.
With all these X-Men movies coming out there have been a lot of fans calling for some more X-Men characters to be added to the roster and, while we have had Gambit make an appearance in the past, there has been talk of a new Gambit joining the X-Men franchise. Hollywood star Channing Tatum has expressed his desire to play Gambit in the X-Men franchise and he was recently said to have had meetings with the producers.
While we do feel that Channing Tatum would make a good Gambit, we are finding it hard to see where he could fit another film into his already very busy schedule, especially if Gambit is going to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. Channing currently has four movies that are in production, with a further 11 titles in the development stages at the moment. That is enought to keep anyone busy.
If X-Men: Apocalypse is going to open in 2016 it will mean beginning production in early 2015, which would surely conflict with one of the many projects that Channing Tatum currently has lined up. With that said, Channing does seem very eager to play Gambit in an X-Men film, so we have no doubt that he will do everything in his power to be involced. Watch this space!
