It is fair to say that a lot of the originality in Hollywood has been fading over the past few years, as the production companies focus on their big money makers, bringing us a huge amount of prequels, sequels, remakes and reboots. One of the most recent movie reboots to hit the big screen, was the very impressive Hollywood blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road, which opened earlier in the year.
Many fans were excited to see what this new Mad Max movie would bring us, with British star Tom Hardy taking over the iconic role, which was mad famous by a young Mel Gibson. Well, Mad Max: Fury Road was a hit, impressing fans and critics alike, while also proving a success at the box office. With Mad Max: Fury Road making $363m worldwide, it was pretty much guaranteed that we would get a sequel.
Writer and director George Miller has since admitted that he has some big plans for the future of the Mad Max franchise, starting with the new movie, which has already been tentatively titled Mad Max: The Wasteland. Reports have suggested that Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Mad Max for the movie, with the actor being signed on to three more Mad Max movies.
However, it is not clear whether we will get to see Charlize Theron returning for Mad Max: The Wasteland. Charlize gave us a very solid performance as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, which led to many to expect that we would see her reprising the role for the future films. With that said though, Theron has insisted that she has not even heard of any future Mad Max movie and know nothing of the project.
We expect that Charlize Theron will hear all about Mad Max: The Wasteland in the near future and that she will eventually sign on to return for the planned movie sequel. At least we hope so!
