Following the success of both of the first two Sherlock Holmes movies, there has been a lot of talk about the possibility of Sherlock Holmes 3 being made. Fans of the first two movies have also been calling for it to happen and a Sherlock Holmes 3 script is in the process of being written.
However, there could yet be a stumbling blcok for the project, as Guy Ritchie previously explained, when he revealed that the script would definitely have to impress Robert Downey Jr. Guy previously said, "At the moment with Sherlock, we've been so busy working on this that what we really need to do is sit down and work out - a bit like Iron Man - if there's a story that we can put together that excites Robert enough to spend two years of his life making it."
He added, ''The amazing thing about where he is in his life now and in his career, he's only going to do it if he really wants to do it. That's the challenge we had going into Iron Man 3 and I think we succeeded, so we'll see what happens with Sherlock."
The 2009 movie Sherlock Holmes and the 2011 sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows starred Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes, while Jude Law plays his sidekick Dr Watson. The two movies have grossed over $1bn combined, so the studio will be praying that a third instalment can be made.
