If there is one thing that Hollywood seems to love, it is a remake, whether that be a remake of a classic American movie or a remake of an impressive foreign film. Over the years, we have seen Hollywood trying to remake a number of fantastic Korean movies but, what made these Korean movies so great seems to get lost in translation, with the American version always managing to miss the mark.
There are a number of different reasons why the Hollywood adaptation of hit Korean films does not quite live up to the original. One of the biggest points, is the fact that Korean movies regularly come up with exciting and different ways of bludgeoning someone to death, while Hollywood is more than happy to just use the same old system of shooting someone.
Then there is the fact that Korean cinema always manages to come up with some of the most deranged plot lines and stories, that America just does not quite seem capable of comprehending. It is for this reason that Korean cinema has given us some of the most shocking and terrifying horror movies, always as some very clever gotcha plot twists along the way.
There is no doubt that Hollywood will continue in its attempts to remake some of the great Korean movies that we have seen over the years and we are sure that, one day they might just be able to get it right. Until then though, we have to say that Korean cinema seems to be able to do things that Hollywood simply cannot understand.
