Over the course of the past few years we have seen absolutely loads of movie remakes, reboots, sequels and prequels, and we have plenty more coming up over the course of the next few years. It sometimes feels like Hollywood has lost some of its creativity and originality by doing this but the industry is all about money these days.
One planned movie remake that will be coming our way, is the new take on the hit 1991 movie Point Break, which has sparked a lot of interest among fans of the original movie. While some fans are eager to see what the new movie brings us, there are others who feel that it should be left alone, as a remake will never live up to the original.
The original 1991 Point Break movie starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, and there have been a few rumours suggesting that Keanu Reeves could be up for a cameo appearance in the Point Break remake. However, these rumours are completely unfounded, as Keanu himself has insisted that he wants nothing to do with the movie and will certainly not appear in the film.
While there is no official casting for the Point Break remake, it has been rumoured that Gerard Butler has been in talks for a role in the film. The Point Break remake will be directed by Ericson Core, based on the screenplay developed by Kurt Wimmer, and a release date planned for sometime in 2015.
