Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio is without a doubt one of the best and most accomplished actors to ever grace the big screen, putting in fantastic performances in almost every movie he has ever done. His talents and his performances have been recognised on a number of occasions but there is still one major thing alluding him. That all important Oscar win.
During his career, excluding this year, Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for three Academy Awards but, every time you think it might just be his year, somebody else goes and wins the Oscar. The first Oscar nomination Leonardo DiCaprio received was back in 1994 for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. That Oscar went to Tommy Lee Jones for The Fugitive.
The next Oscar nomination Leonardo DiCaprio received was in 2005 for the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Aviator. This time the Oscar went to Jamie Foxx for his performance in Ray. Leonardo was then nominated for the Best Actor in a Leading Role again, this time for his performance in Blood Diamond. Unfortunately for Leo the Oscar was won by Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland.
This year will see Leonardo DiCaprio attempting to win an Academy Award for the fourth time, having been nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. While many are tipping Leo to finally break his duck, he faces stiff competition from Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, Bruce Dern and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The 86th Academy Awards takes place on March 2.
Do you think Leonardo DiCaprio will finally win an Oscar?
