It has been reported that The Fighter actor Mark Wahlberg has fallen out with the movies director David O’Russell, who was expected to direct The Fighter 2. It seems that both feel that they have been let down by the other and it has a touch of a school playground feud.
David O’Russell expressed his desire to have a crack at penning the screenplay for The Fighter 2, however Mark Wahlberg opted to go for the writer of The Fighter, Scott Silver. This did not sit well with O’Russell and it seems that he has tried to get back at Wahlberg.
Mark Wahlberg thought that he would get the lead role in the new David O’Russell movie The Silver Linings Playbook but David has instead opted for The Hangover star Bradley Cooper. This has left Mark very disappointed in the director and could force him to retaliate.
It is highly likely that Mark Wahlberg will now look for a different director to helm The Fighter 2 and it could very well be the end of his working relationship with David O’Russell. Not that Mark is short of work, he currently has five movies in production with a further eleven in development.
