Sara Paxton has always had a varied career, both in television and film, but she's about to star in one of the most highly anticipated shows of the year, Gotham.
Sara doesn't have a leading role on the show, but her rumored character, Bette Kane, will reportedly get bigger as the show continues past its first season. Obviously, the show would have to succeed in ratings for that to happen, but there's little chance that it wont.
There's not too much known about the television show's version of Bette Kane, but we know that Bette was the niece of Kathy Kane. Kathy fought alongside Batman as Batwoman, and Bette would eventually end up as Bat-girl. Since the show won't actually be focusing on the superheroes as much as the mythology behind Batman, it's clear why Bette wouldn't be a major role on the show. However, it's certainly an introduction into the world of Gotham, and it will allow Sara to expand her role in the future if she does a good job.
Granted, Sara's also got plenty of other career opportunities right now, including several movies and TV shows. She will be starring in the Boys of Abu Ghraib, not to mention It's All Relative for up and coming director J.C. Khoury, and Happily Ever After with Alex Kingston and Janet Montgomery. That's not even mentioning the dozens of other shows and movies that Sara has in production and pre-production.
Gotham airs on Fox this fall, and it's headlined by Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon. The show is also predicted to earn gangbusters ratings, and it's reportedly the most anticipated among the coveted 18-40 demographic.
