Actress Janet Hubert played the role of Aunt Viv, in the hit show Fresh Prince of Bel Air, for three years, before being replaced on the show for violating her contract. Janet has now spoken about her dismissal, saying that nobody supported her and she even suggested Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro were horrible to her on the set.
Hubert revealed to omg! Insider, "[Will Smith] said, 'We're just going to replace her and act like nothing happened'. Well, honey, that is not what happened, is it? The world has let me know that my place on that show was very, very, very loved and I'm sorry, I'm getting really emotional because I felt demonised and beaten up and crucified for so many years. No-one came forward in my defence. No-one."
She added, "It was as if to say, 'Now, you don't reprimand the young man on the set'. I have an expression - if you want me to kiss your butt, you have got to put it in my contract. He did some heinous, horrible things to me. They were like bad kids, Will and Alfonso [Ribeiro] - especially Alfonso."
There have been plenty of rumours about a potential Fresh Prince of Bel Air reunion over the years and Janet Hubert previously rejected the claims. However, Janet seems to have had a change of heart, as she feels that everybody involved needs to put the past 21 years behind them and move on with their lives.
