Will Smith is one of the few movie stars left - he can open a movie purely on his name alone, and studios can bank on him to deliver. Now, it is being reported that he may be stepping into the director's chair for 'Redemption of Cain, which was written by Caleeb Pinkett, his wife's brother.
The Wrap is reporting that Sony Pictures has recently given the greenlight to 'The Redemption of Cain', which puts a 'Vampiric twist on Cain and Abel's Biblical tale of sibling rivalry'. According to the report, this film has been in development for a while now, with Smith initially set to produce the film and star as Cain. Information after that has been silent, but Smith seems committed to producing it eitherways through his Overbrook banner.

The Wrap is also reporting that 'The Redemption of Cain' is set to start shooting in July 2013, with plans to shoot on location in London and Morocco. The film will be cast by Francine Maisler.
Smith has been more active as a producer of late, but we still have M. Night Shyamalan's 'After Earth' and Akiva Goldsman's 'Winter Tale' coming out with Smith starring.
