There were a lot of disappointed people, when it was announced that Will Smith had pulled out of the movie Django Unchained. While no real reason behind the decision has ever been given, WIll has now spoken about his involvement in the project and his reasons for pulling out.
Smith was talking to Entertainment Weekly, when he explained, "Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead! I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’" This has led to many people questioning the comment and even going as far as calling Will Smith arrogant.
These comments could not be further from the truth. Will Smith is one of the most down to earth stars in Hollywood, which possibly has something to do with the fact that he lost everything, just to work harder than ever to get it all back again and even more on top.
Knowing the kind of person Will Smith is, it is fair to say that he was just making a jokey, passing comment, which has gone on to be taken completely out of context. Quentin Tarantino has previously claimed that they couldn't get the film made together, with scheduling difficulties being the most obvious reason.
