There is a distinct lack of loyalty in football these days and, while a lot of people criticise players for lacking loyalty, it does sometimes make sense, with players wanting to leave certain clubs in pursuit of silverware. Sometimes it is better to be greedy in football than it is to be loyal. Just look at Alan Shearer and imagine what he could have won if he wasn't so loyal to Newcastle United.
Another player who has been overly loyal to his club, is Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard, who has been at the club since he was just a young boy. Steven has been considered one of the best centre midfielders in the world over the years and has had plenty of opportunities to move to a bigger club and win more silverware.
In all fairness to Steven Gerrard, he has won plenty of silverware with Liverpool, with two FA Cups, three League Cups, two Community Shields, one Champions League, one Uefa Cup and two Super Cups. Not too bad really but what is still alluding this great player is an English Premier League winners medal. The closest Steven Gerrard has come to winning the Premier League was a second place finish but that could all change this season.
Liverpool are the in form club in the English Premier League right now and find themselves second in the league, just one point behind the leaders Chelsea. With seven games left to go, this is the best chance that Liverpool have ever had to win the English Premier League and probably ever will.
