Von Miller was recognized after his draft selection by John Elway as a "once in a generation player" and prior to his suspension he was playing that way. There are very few football players who can actually be legitimately compared to the great Lawrence Taylor but he is certainly one of those players.
As a rookie Von Miller had 11.5 sacks. in his second year (2012) he had 18.5 sacks and was a player who literally struck fear into opponents with the combination of speed and power that he brought to the field. However, since his suspension in 2013 which led to him getting out of shape and only playing 9 games and only 5 sacks before his season ended with an ACL injury he has not been the same dominant player.
In 2014 he has 2 sacks and has been showing glimpses of the form that made him one of the most feared players in the NFL, especially by quarterbacks. He played very well against the Seattle Seahawks in the Denver Broncos' last game, a 26-20 loss but for a player who has otherworldly athletic talent and football skills the team needs him to return to his dominant form of 2012 and surpass those numbers.
Von Miller is the one player on the Denver Broncos defence who is a matchup nightmare because of his ability to rush the passer and cover a running back in space. The only question with him is whether he has the 'motor' to be a nightmare for opponents on every possession similar to that of the legendary Lawrence Taylor.
If Von Miller can keep himself focused for the entire game he will be able to provide the Denver Broncos something that they arguably have never had: a superstar linebacker similar to the great Lawrence Taylor
Denver Broncos fans are praying that he finds that 'switch' which made him a star in 2012 because if he does then his team might be returning to the Super Bowl but this time with their secret weapon in the form of #58: linebacker Von Miller.
