Following the terrible first attempt of having Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool on the big screen, appearing in that poor Wolverine movie, it seemed like we might not ever get to see the character being given the chance that it really deserves. However, Ryan managed to get a Deadpool movie made and it was absolutely fantastic, leading to a sequel being developed, although fans would rather see the character doing something else.
With fans eager to get that awful Deadpool and Wolverine collaborative movie out of their minds, it really makes sense that we would get a new Wolverine and Deadpool film, although it has been denied time and again. Unfortunately for the fans, it seems that Hugh Jackman is adamant that his next outing as Wolverine will be his last, so the crossover film might never happen.
When recently talking about the potential project, Hugh Jackman said, "I’m hesitating, because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may be wrong." However, it seems that Ryan Reynolds is going to try to do everything he can to get Hugh to change his mind and agree to do the project.
Ryan stated, "I would love to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me play Deadpool. We have outlines and stories for a number of different films. I have no idea if I can change his mind. It’s the audience: I would exclusively exploit that relationship to get Hugh back for another one."
Unfortunately we just cannot see this happening. It is continuing to get harder and harder for Hugh Jackman to put his body through the hard work it takes to be Wolverine, and with no script currently even in place, it could be years before shooting even begins, so we can understand why Hugh would be reluctant to come back.
