There have been plenty of rumours about the forthcoming J.J. Abrams movie Star Trek Into Darkness, with many people talking about the possibility of William Shatner appearing in the film. Fans were hoping to see another familiar face in the Star Trek sequel to the 2009 hit.

William Shatner as Captain Kirk in Star Trek
In Star Trek, we were treated to a guest appearance by Leonard Nimoy, as Spock, as a tribute to the earlier movies and, since it has been confirmed that Leonard will not be appearing in Star Trek Into Darkness, it was expected that William Shatner could appear as Captain James T. Kirk.
However, it seems that, while fans would have loved to have seen William Shatner’s Kirk meet Chris Pine’s Kirk, it is not going to happen. Shatner has been talking about the possibility of appearing in Star Trek Into Darkness and admits that it is very unlikely.

Geek Speak quote the aging actor as saying, “I don’t think that ['Darkness' director] J.J. Abrams knows what to do with me. Age and change in body shape.” Star Trek Into Darkness is set to be released in both the US and the UK on May 17.
