It came as a big shock to many fans, when it was announced back in October that The Academy Is had decided to split up. Fans everywhere were left heartbroken and devastated but it was not a decision that they took lightly. Now, William Beckett, the former front man of The Academy Is, has revealed his plans to go solo and to make it work on his own.
Beckett explained, "At this point in my life, I’ve honestly never felt better being able to have control of my life, feeling like, if I succeed it’s on me and if I fail, it’s on me. And I’m okay with that, I’m welcoming that. I’ve got some friends and I’ve got some people that are going to be included in the process. This is still a fresh wound, so I’m still trying to conceptualize exactly what it’s going to be. I know it’s going to be me, completely, as far as the identity of it. I’m really excited about it."
William Beckett has currently been working on some of his new solo material and has also been recording a number of cover tracks, including an acoustic cover version of the Ryan Adams track Come Pick Me Up. It is expected that William Beckett will be releasing a solo record sometime in the new year but for now, check out this cover.
