While it is fair to say that the news that J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars Episode VII has been met with a mixed response, one person has made his feelings clear. William Shatner has been talking about J.J. Abrams directing Star Wars: Episode VII, when he called him a pig.
During an interview with Movie Fanatic, Shatner explained, “He's being a pig. He's probably the most talented director of that ilk we have. But, he's gone too far this time.” However, it could be that William Shatner was only having a bit of fun.
Star Wars: Episode VII is currently being written by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) and is expected to be released sometime in 2015, although J.J. Abrams is reportedly not ready to commit to an official release date.
As for William Shatner, he has lent his voice to the character General Shanker in the animated movie Escape from Planet Earth, which also features the voices of Brendan Fraser, Ricky Gervais, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara and Sarah Jessica Parker. Escape from Planet Earth is set to be released in the US on February 15, while an official UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
