Wladimir Klitschko continuing to fight bums

It seems that the heavyweight division just keeps getting worse and worse and the Klitschko brothers, Wladimir in particular continue to fight bums. Wladimir Klitschko has revealed that he will be having a rematch with 40 year old Tony Thompson, who he beat four years ago.

Thompson is adamant that he was injured during that fight but the fact that he is now 40 years old does not hold much hope for the average boxer. Thompson explained to Fight News, “Last time I had an injury…I will complete what I missed four years ago. I will knock Klitschko out and take all his belts to the U.S.”

While Tony Thompson is ranked number 2 in the world by the IBF, there are much better boxers out there but it seems that the Klitschko’s are just happy to get paid for easy work. Alexander Povetkin, Tomasz Adamek and Robert Helenius would all give Wladimir Klitschko a better fight than Tony Thompson.

While none of those three fighters are really world class, they would still make Wladimir Klitschko work for his money, whereas Tony Thompson will be lucky to last 4 rounds. It would be nice to see Wladimir take on an up and coming, hungy youngster, like his brother Vitali Klitschko did against Derek Chisora but it seems that the easy win is the way for Klitschko for the foreseeable future.

Wladimir Klitschko vs Tony Thompson for the IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles, is set to take place on July 7th in Switzerland.
