Ever since the moment that Warner Bros. and DC revealed that they were taking the Man of Steel movie sequel and turning it into a Batman vs. Superman film, there has been a lot of discussions between comic book fans about what they would like to see from it. One of the main things that the fans was hoping for was an appearance from Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman and those wishes were granted.
When it was confirmed that Wonder Woman was going to appear in Batman vs. Superman, talk quickly turned to which actress should play the role, with a number of names being mentioned as possible candidates for the role. One name that never popped up in relation to playing Wonder Woman was Gal Gadot, so it came as quite a surprise when it was announced that she had been cast in the role.
Comic book fans were clearly disappointed by this news, with many insisting that Gal Gadot did not have the right look for the role and that she would not be able to pull it off. This has left Warner Bros. and DC a little worried about the character and plans for a Wonder Woman standalone movie seem to have been put on hold until after the Batman vs. Superman movie has been released.
It is thought that the idea behind this is so that Warner Bros. and DC can get a good idea of how the fans feel about Gal Gadot's performance as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman. If Gal gets a positive feedback from fans, then a Wonder Woman movie will be the next to get developed but, if the fans still disapprove of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, then it could kill all hope of a Wonder Woman movie happening.
