What do you think of when you hear the name "Goldberg"? You might think of the actor or the former professional football player, but you'll most likely think of the WWE icon and top star of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) at the height of the Monday Night Wars. Fortunately, they're all the same great guy who was last seen wrestling Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship in WrestleMania 33 last month.
The legend was in Las Vegas recently hosting a meet-and-greet at the city's newest Sugar Factory, located inside the massive Fashion Show Mall on the strip. Where does somebody with a name such as "Goldberg" stay during their Vegas vacation? Somewhere golden, of course! Luckily, downtown's Fremont Street Experience holds the vintage Vegas gem, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino. The WWE icon made the classic hotel his home-away-from-home as a guest of the property's owner, Derek Stevens.
Goldberg happens to be a huge fan of Stevens', as he also made sure to visit Golden Gate's sister property, the D Casino Hotel, which is also located on the opposite end of the Fremont Street Experience! It was there where the powerful WWE star chowed down on a Cold-Water Rock Lobster Tail, a signature dish at the D's award-winning Andiamo Italian Steakhouse. Andiamo has always been a favorite of Goldberg's entire family, and this time was no different as he, his wife, Wanda, and son, Gage, dined alongside friend/D Executive, Richard Wilk, and his family. Goldberg is seen as a superhero to kids everywhere and after dinner was no different as he made sure him and his son posed with the Wilk kids. No wonder the popular steakhouse is often regarded as a "celebrity hot spot"!
While Goldberg's only official meet-and-greet during his trip occurred at Sugar Factory, he caused a commotion everywhere he stepped foot in Vegas! Word spread quickly, and his admirers were scattered throughout Fremont Street, hoping to catch him at either of Derek Stevens' fun properties! Fans had (gold) stars in their eyes when they caught a glimpse of the buff superstar, chasing him down for selfies. Goldberg’s driver from the D Hotel was such a huge fan of the star that he got his thank you photo with the friendly giant.
Casino owner Derek Stevens sure knows what he's doing- opening properties favored by celebrities, tourists, and locals alike. Downtown Las Vegas and the famous Fremont Street Experience has become a must-see when in Vegas. You never know what famous face you might see.
