In an interview in the RTE Radio One Documentary ‘From Mayo to Miami’, X Factor judge Louis Walsh reveals about how he once turned down Colin Farrell for Boyzone, and also told him to quit acting, saying it would be ‘too hard’.
He laughs when explaining this, and says, “I did say 'No' to Colin Farrell. Colin still laughs about it because he auditioned for Boyzone. He always looked the part and he was the boy around town. He sang, but he couldn't sing very well. He was a character. I said: 'No I don't think it's for you'.
Apparently, Farrell then added that he wanted to be an actor. “He said 'Oh man, I want to be an actor anyway'."I said 'Acting? Colin, you are wasting your time. It's too hard!' We still laugh about that. He proved me wrong."
In addition to being a manager on X Factor, Walsh also represents and manages many singers and groups, including Westlife, Boyzone, Ronan Keating, Shayne Ward, Jedward, Wonderland, Bellefire, Six, Girls Aloud, G4, Samantha Mumba, Elton Road, JLS, The Carter twins, Kerri Ann, and Rob Carney. Walsh has also spoken up about the latest season of X Factor, and says he thinks that either Union J or District 3 will make it to the top.
