Marvel Superhero prequel X-Men: First Class has hit the top spot at the UK box office on its opening weekend, knocking record breaking comedy The Hangover: Part II off the top spot. The movie was released on Wednesday and was the biggest selling movie of the week.
X-Men: First Class managed to rack up a massive £5.4 million since its release, sending it to the No.1 position in the UK chart. The movie, which stars James McAvoy, January Jones and Michael Fassbender, did not manage to reach the £6.6 million that X-Men Origins: Wolverine grossed in 2009.
The Hangover: Part II has only been out in the UK for two weeks but it has already managed to pull in an incredible £21 million, which is already equal to The Hangover’s takings back in 2009. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides slips down to third place.
