Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens met each other for the first time as they screen tested together for the movie High School Musical. It was said that the chemistry between the two was evident, even then and that nobody who was in that room was surprised when they started dating.
The couple began filming High School Musical in 2005 and while some claim that this is when they started dating, they did not actually officially get together until a couple of years later. Fans of the teen couple thought they would last forever and they did seem eternally happy together.

However, as is often the case in Hollywood these days, the relationship came to an end. It is difficult for someone so young to deal with all the media attention that comes with being a star. Add to that, dating a fellow star and the media attention more than doubles.
This can often be too much for young stars, however this was not what drove these two apart. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens split in December 2010 and it was claimed that they tried to give their relationship another go in January of this year but the spark seemed to have fizzled out.
Vanessa revealed that the reason she and Zac split up was because they were spending too much time apart. She explained, "Long-distance relationships are hard no matter what. When you don't have face-to-face time, it's just different. Having an iPhone helped, but it just wasn't the same."

Hudgens added, "We grew up together. It was nice to have someone to share all of those experiences with." Both Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron have been romantically linked to other people since, and while Vanessa has admitted to being happy living the single life, Zac has told of his heartache and love he will always have for Vanessa.
It just goes to show that it does not matter how old you are in show business, relationships with a fellow star do not seem to be able to last the test of time. It will be interesting to see how long it is before Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez split. Surely it is only a matter of time?
