Man of Steel director Zack Snyder may be feeling the pressure of directing the Superman reboot, considering how recognisable the franchise is. With DC preparing a Justice League movie for 2015, it will be interesting to see how Zack’s Man of Steel movie links into that.
Snyder told the New York Post, “I heard one time that the Superman glyph is the second or third most recognisable symbol on Earth after the Christian cross. It's this crazy responsibility.”
He added, “We approach the film as a single endeavour. There are a lot of gears that have to turn in the world of commerce and the world of the mythology we create to facilitate more adventures for this character.”
Zack continued, “We'll see what happens. I don't know how Justice League is going to be handled. Honestly, I don't. But The Man of Steel exists, and Superman is in it. I don't know how you'd move forward without acknowledging that.”
Man of Steel will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Man of Steel is set to be released in both the US and the UK on June 14, 2013.
