Chinese star actress Zhang Jingchu is veering into new territory with her new film 'The Old Cinderella' as she will be seen on movie screens throughout China in the role of a divorced mother who is seeking a new life in this romantic comedy. Not only is the romantic comedy genre a new role for Zhang Jingchu who has played the role of a strong willed country woman, a drug addict and a martial arts warrior but she also was a producer of this film as well.
Zhang Jingchu in this movie pushed herself out of her comfort zone by taking on the responsibility of being both the lead actress and the producer and in the process developed a new appreciation for the movie making process and how difficult it is to work behind the scenes. She involved herself in the selection of scenes and actors and even butted heads with producer Lu Chan about the final scene and the creative difference resulted in a great final scene in the movie.
"The Old Cinderella' even provided Zhang Jingchu with a new perspective on marriage as she no longer considers it a "chain that locks people to each other like personal property" but as something that can work if you are willing to give out of your love for someone else and give rather than look to receive. Interestingly, Zhang Jingchu recently created a social media firestorm when she was seen at a civil service department as rumours circulated that she was registering for marriage but she and her representative denied the rumours to the chagrin of all her fans wanting to see her in a celebrity wedding.
Zhang Jingchu is a leading lady who continues to grow as an actress and entertainment professional because she is willing to venture out of her comfort zone to learn more. This is something that only those who aspire to be great in the professions will do which is why Zhang Jingchu is constantly looked at by film industry insiders as one of the elite Chinese actresses who possess the ability to be great.
