New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel has revealed how she had a very difficult time growing up, as she was regularly bullied by her fellow classmates while at school. Zooey admitted that she decided to try and mix things up a bit when it came to choosing a University, as she tried to get away from the mean girls and meet some nicer peers.
Deschanel explained, "Girls spit in my face. People were so mean to me. I'd cry every day." Zooey then decided to go to Northwestern University in Illinois but unfortunately things did not exactly improve. She added, I went to Northwestern because I had gone to a really non-traditional high school. I was like, 'It'd be cool to have a traditional college experience'. Then I was like, 'Oh, but none of these people understand what's cool about me. My specialness is not appreciated in this place'."
Zooey Deschanel recently revealed how she and her husband Ben Gibbard have split and that the couple will be getting divorced. Zooey is set to appear as the guest host on Saturday Night Live on February 11. Meanwhile, Zooey’s television series New Girl is set to continue with its debut season on January 17, 2012 on Fox.
