The 2009 VMA's marked many firsts for some of the most talented singers in America, none so deserving as Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift won a VMA in the Best Female Video category for her music video "You Belong with Me", but her heartfelt moment was insolently interrupted by rapper Kanye West.
Taylor Swift took the stage for her heartfelt award speech after winning the VMA for "You Belong with Me" telling the audience how happy she was to receive the award, especially for being a female country singer. Rapper Kanye West took the mic out of country singer Taylor Swifts hand, not to congratulate her, but rather to let the world know that Beyonce's video "Single Ladies" was the "One of the best videos of all time". Although not a direct insult by Kanye, the phrase surely took the attention off of Taylor and focused it another performer. The stoplight was immediately stolen from Taylor who did not know what to do after Kanye's rude interruption, and walked off the stage gracefully.

As a lifetime Kanye West fan my respect for the rapper has gone down considerably. Regardless if Taylor Swift should or shouldn't have won the award, Kanye's interruption surely took the joy out of Taylor's well deserved award.

Kanye West's nomination for "Love Lockdown" was booed at the VMA's as Ditty read the nominees. Kanye West who has a self proclaimed large ego (as demonstrated in the remix of the Beyonce song "Ego" ft. Kanye West") is surely not going to get out of this national diss without negative media attention.

The VMA award to Taylor Swift deserving or not was tarnished by Kanye. Both Kanye and Taylor fans will be awaiting an apology by Kanye for his actions at the VMA's.
