Hollywood legend Mel Gibson has directed some fantastic movies over the years and we were so excited when it was confirmed that he was returning to the directors chair for the first time in 10 years, to direct the new movie Hacksaw Ridge. British actor Andrew Garfield stars in the lead role for Hacksaw Ridge and he has opened up about what it was like to work with Mel Gibson on the film.

Garfield explained, "He said he rarely enjoys making a movie. I don't buy it. He just looks like he's having a whale of a time. Having someone who's such a great actor with their eyes on you just makes you feel so safe." And it seems that the mutual respect is there too, as Mel Gibson also had some words of praise for Andrew Garfield.
Gibson said, "He's not your typical heroic cat. He's a guy with convictions and beliefs and he's very strong principled personally so he's able to understand those things and portray them very well. Also he's a wonderful actor, he's got a great gift. This film is character-centric, it really focuses on this one guy, so you have to have someone who can carry that ball. He really is the heart of the film."

As well as starring Andrew Garfield, the rest of the Hacksaw Ridge cast includes the likes of Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, and Luke Bracey. Hacksaw Ridge is set to hit the big screen on November 4 in the US, while the UK is still awaiting an official release date.
