Well by now we are all aware that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has once again won the biggest individual honor in football, the Ballon d'or, making it the fifth time that the player has taken home the award. Lionel has been sensational for Barcelona over the years but could the time now be right for him to consider making a move to another club, to prove himself in another league?
There has been a lot of talk about Pep Guardiola joining Manchester City in the Summer, after the Spaniard admitted that he would be leaving the German giants Bayern Munich. Along with this rumours has been suggestions that Pep will tell Manchester City to make Lionel Messi his first signing for the club, with some even suggesting that the little magician could be tempted by the move.
However, with that said, Lionel Messi has a family in Barcelona and they are very settled in Spain. Lionel has been in a relationship with the beautiful Antonella Roccuzzo and the couple have two beautiful young children together. Antonella would be reluctant to up sticks and swap the warm weather in Spain for the dull and dreary skies of England, especially Manchester.
With that in mind, it would be difficult to see Lionel Messi agreeing to join Manchester City if his family was not willing to make the move with him. We expect that Lionel will remain a Barcelona player for a few more years yet, possibly even seeing out his career at the Spanish giants.
