We are beginning to feel like we should stop wishing for our favourite movies from the past to give us a sequel all these years later, as it seems that they never manage to get anywhere close to the original genius, especially when it comes to comedies. In recent years we have seen Dumb and Dumber To, which missed the mark of expectation by a very long way, as well as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which was also less than impressive.
With that said, when it was announced that Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller had agreed to come together again as Hansel and Derek for Zoolander 2, we were very excited to see what they would come up with. Well, Zoolander 2 has now dropped and the reviews have started to pour in thick and fast but, unfortunately for fans of the movie, it seems that this is another comedy movie sequel which fails to live up to the original.
One very disappointed fan stated, "What was so great about the first Zoolander film is that it was cleverly stupid. Zoolander 2 is just stupid, without being clever in the slightest." Meanwhile, another disgruntled fan added, "Was very excited for Zoolander 2 but was left more disappointed than I have ever been in my life. Awful film!"
However, there were those fans who were willing to stand by the movie no matter what, with one fan saying, "You have to take a Zoolander movie for what it is, silly fun. It is not supposed to use clever jokes. It never did in the first so why start now? Loved every minute of it and it is as solid a sequel as you are ever going to get!"
So, it looks like Zoolander 2 certainly has the fans divided. Let us know what you thought of the movie.
