Brie Larson is an example of how one role can change the trajectory of an actor's career. The talented actress in 2013 acted in the film "Short Term 12", a project that very few people seemed to watch but her performance as the home supervisor in the movie which revolved around life in a care home for troubled teenagers earned her huge amounts of critical acclaim from movie critics and literally changed her acting career overnight. 
This immensely talented actress prior to "Short Term 12" had not been 'discovered' even though the movie represented her 25th project. Her sensational performance in the movie is even more amazing when one considers that during the filming she was 'financially broke' and thus was literally living hand to mouth (Irish Times - January 22).
She was taking food from the set to eat at her home with no inclination that her performance would result in her becoming one of the young rising star actors in Hollywood because at the time the focus was basically survival.
Her acting career changed because of one role which she performed when she was literally flat broke but instead of giving in to the thought of just going 'through the motions' on the set she stayed focused and provided a portrayal of a home supervisor that was so spectacular that she went from a virtual unknown as an actress to one who in 2015 will be seen playing a leading role in two Hollywood movies: "Room" and "Basmati Blues".
She is proof that talent is not enough to succeed in Hollywood and that an actor must have real 'grit' to make it in Hollywood because to imagine that she was able to provide a tour-de-force performance while literally being financially 'broke' to the point that she was taking food from the set is an example of the confidence and toughness an actor must have in themselves to remain true to the belief that one role can change their lives even if it seems nondescript.
Brie Larson is now a known commodity in Hollywood and on the brink of becoming a star because she was able to focus on her acting even when it felt like everything around was crashing. Her grit and talent makes her an actress whom many filmmakers would likely want as the lead actress for their projects and thus explains her busy acting schedule. Acting talent, grit and beauty, the dream package of a leading lady for a filmmaker and one that Brie Larson will be bringing to the big screen throughout 2015.
