Sometimes in life you do need a little bit of luck to go with your natural-born talent and that is exactly what happened with Call Me Maybe singer Carly Rae Jepsen. Carly had been trying to get her big break on the music scene, when she was spotted singing on YouTube and soon after was releasing her debut single.

It has not been the easiest of rides for Carly though, as she has tried many different avenues in the past. Carly even auditioned for the reality television series Canadian Idol but failed to make it through on the show. So it is very fitting that she is now going to be involved in the American Idol season finale.
Jepsen was chatting to the guys over at Reality Rocks, when she explained, "I was on 'Canadian Idol' back in the day, so it's going to be very strange. I would've never thought, auditioning for 'Canadian Idol' way back when, that one day I would be on the season finale of 'American Idol'! It's very, very cool to me! It's just amazing to be part of the whole 'Idol' thing."

She added, "In the beginning, I remember being really nervous to audition [for 'Canadian Idol']. I think it's such a great way for artists take the chance to showcase what they do, and it really helped my career. It's gonna be so cool to be a part of it, and it's going to be nostalgic in a way, too."
Carly Rae Jepsen will be performing live on the American Idol season tweleve finale, which will air on Fox on Wednesday, May 15.
